What is DBT informed Coaching?
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a skills based technique
created by Marsha Linehan that focuses on a combination of
cognitive restructuring, acceptance, and mindfulness, with the goal being better emotional regulation, problem solving skills and a happier more joyful life.

DBT Based Coaching, while incorporating Well-Being Aspects, is more heavily focused on immediate high stress reduction, problem solving and emotional dysregulation management. (Either yours or from a loved one's.) We do this by creating a plan and a clear map with the client including overarching goals to increase your chances of long term - continued success.
Clients learn to better utilize their DBT skills to "put fires out" and cope ahead. As life and emotional regulation allow, the client can then begin focusing on creating a more balanced life and mindset little by little, incorporating self care and limit setting along the way.
Who DBT Informed Coaching is for:
People who have completed a full course in DBT from a clinician or from an organization such as NEABPD or Family Connections or are at least familiar with the concepts and foundational skills of this modality AND are looking for help to understand how to practically apply these skills to their specific situation.

Our team's relationship with
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy:
We were all introduced to DBT, not as professionals but as a family member of someone that was diagnosed with Chronic Emotional Dysregulation (or BPD).
It is our firm belief that learning these skills saved our family members lives. Our team and families still practice these skills daily and volunteers to teach DBT based classes through a non profit organization and actively participates in continued education for DBT.
It must be noted that we are NOT
Marsha Linehan certified clinicians, rather,
certified Well-Being Coaches, informed in DBT.
Through personal experience and observation, we have seen the major impact that embracing and incorporating these skills in our relationships can have. If a person is committed to the process, it can change and save lives.
If this is something you believe could benefit you and have not taken a class or are interested in learning more about BPD/CED please visit the NEABPD website for information, resources and free class enrollment options.
(The NEABPD is not affiliated with Coy Medium, only a trusted and recommended resource for others.)
